Ambie 4.0 — The best white noise app on Windows keeps getting better
After months of early mornings and late nights, I am excited to share the biggest visual refresh for Ambie in over a year. Introducing Ambie 4.0 🚀

What's New?
A timeless and refined UI
One of the goals with the latest update was to create a refined experience that feels native to Windows and will continue to feel native for years to come. Ambie 4.0 implements an intuitive left navigation menu that uses Mica, letting you see a beautiful backdrop of your desktop wallpaper. The menu animates into a smaller space as you shrink the Window, while still keeping the icons visible.
Ambie 4.0’s content pages are backed with an off-white or off-black opaque brush that allows you to focus on the sound cards. As you scroll through your sounds, the Now Playing section at the top remains visible, and your sounds disappear behind an Acrylic pane. This scrolling effect allows the app to maximize the vertical space, unlike in previous designs which clips your content leading to feeling cramped. In 4.0, Ambie can stretch its wings to the fullest.
Meditative bliss
Ambie gains new ways to help you relax in 4.0, where it now includes meditation guides. Clicking on the Relax button will open the meditation guides page. Here you can view the available meditation guides, download them, and play them. With 4.0, Ambie is launching with three short English guides to help with breathing and anxiety. New English guides will be released over time, and guides for different languages will be coming as well. I welcome your feedback and requests on what guides you’d like to see added. Search
With Ambie 4.0, you can perform simple search to navigate around your downloaded sounds and to find new sounds from the catalogue. As you type some letters, Ambie will suggest sounds that are already downloaded. Clicking on one of these items from the drop down will play the sound right away. If you don’t see anything in the drop down that you like, you can press your keyboard’s Enter key or the search button to proceed with searching the catalogue. Ambie will display a list of sounds that you might be looking for. From there, you can download the sounds and play them.
If you can’t find a sound, Ambie’s telemetry will track this so I can add your sound request in the future. If you don’t want Ambie to track this, then change your telemetry option in Ambie’s settings page.
Sounds for your wellbeing
Ambie started as a pandemic project. My goal was to get away from the constant noise of construction outside my apartment. I wanted to hear the birds and the river again. And I wanted to do it with an app that was simple, fast, and reliable. Today, Ambie has grown to much more. It’s an app that helps you relax with sounds of the beach or wind. It helps you focus with deep rumbles like Space Station or Underwater sounds. And now it has meditation guides to help ease some anxiety from your day. Health and wellness has never been more important, and Ambie is a useful tool to help you be a healthier and more productive you.
